Want to visit a Chapel St restaurant and bar on a whole new level? Then Beverley Rooftop is for you.
Twenty-four floors above South Yarra is this utterly elegant restaurant and bar with sweeping views from the city right down to Port Phillip Bay. The space recalls the effortlessly cool rooftop bars of LA, which was a definite inspiration for owners Cameron Northway and Emily Gurr.
The cocktail bar is a revelation, but it’s the food from chef David Barr where the Beverley really comes into it’s own. Taking a cue from the décor, Barr is serving up South Cali-style food with a genuine Melbourne identity.
Kick off with a lobster cannoli, then sample a salmon and kingfish crudo with whipped avocado and salmon roe. Then try something from the wood-fired grail, – barramundi with saffron potatoes, dried tomatoes and capers, Gundagai lamb rack roasted over aromatics, or maybe an eye fillet steak topped with a plump ravioli full of black truffle sauce.
The view is expansive, the food is sophisticated, and the Beverley really is the place to be.
