Narana Aboriginal Culture Centre

Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre an attraction along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. It offers free visitor’s programs, a café, art centre, native plant and animal farm and plenty of different classes and workshops around the indigenous community.  

Narana, a hub for Aboriginal culture, was established to foster understanding and appreciation of Australia’s Indigenous heritage. It provides a welcoming environment for all, promoting interaction and learning. Its cultural education programs, delivered by knowledgeable staff, offer insights into Indigenous culture, spirituality, laws, and Dreaming stories. Visitors can even learn boomerang throwing!

The Art Gallery at Narana showcases a wide range of artworks, from internationally renowned pieces to works by emerging Indigenous artists. Cafe Narana serves a diverse menu, featuring dishes inspired by Indigenous ingredients. The Bush Tucker Plate, with slow-cooked Kangaroo, roasted Crocodile, and grilled Emu, offers a unique taste of Indigenous protein.

Narana’s retail outlet sells a variety of handmade Indigenous items, including didgeridoos, boomerangs, cultural artefacts, clothing, and more. The expansive outdoor spaces and children’s adventure playground invite guests to explore and enjoy the Narana experience at their leisure.

Founded by Elder Uncle Vince Ross in 1992 with the support of the Victorian UAICC (Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress), Narana has thrice been named Victoria’s Best Indigenous Operation and has been inducted into the Victorian Tourism Awards Hall Of Fame. This recognition underscores Narana’s success in achieving its mission of promoting Aboriginal history and culture.
