Host Sonia Marinelli explores Madeleine De Proust in Lygon Street, where clever pastry chefs and owners, HyoJu Park and her chef-partner Rong Yao Soh whom both have Michelin-star cred. At their Carlton bakery they use a meticulous approach to culinary arts honed in some of the world’s best kitchens to create elegant and artistic versions of the delicate sponge cakes known as madeleines.
In 2024, Madeleine De Proust has partnered with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Musical in Melbourne. To celebrate this collaboration, they have created themed madeleines that capture the essence of this enchanting story. There are four madeleines inspired by the timeless tale.
Sonia is then joined by three talented Beauty and the Beast stars to create and sample some of the specially-themed madeleines at Melbourne’s iconic Madeleine De Proust patisserie and learn the art of decorating these delightful and delicious little morsels!
Jayde Westaby (Jayde is Mrs Potts, the nurturing teapot), Alana Tranter (Alana Tranter has natural comic energy as Madame, a wardrobe who was formerly an illustrious opera singer) and Hayley Martin (Hayley Martin is Babette, the stunning maid turned into a feather duster) share what it’s like to perform in this iconic Disney musical.
Disney’s five-star musical, Beauty and the Beast, is now playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
