My Melbourne Weekender with Lehmo

From tranquil waters to tasty wines, follow Lehmo’s Daylesford getaway this weekend!

Comedian Lehmo takes Sonia to the picturesque town of Daylesford. Sharing his favourite local haunts and the charm that draws him back to his holiday home.

Their adventure begins with a peaceful stroll around Lake Daylesford, which takes approximately 40 minutes. Just a short stroll from the town centre, the lake offers a tranquil retreat where you can immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature. You can enjoy bird spotting, a playground for the kids and barbeque facilities to share with friends.

Next, they visit the Brick Lane Bazaar, which opened in 2012, where the duo hunt for vintage treasures, from retro fashion to unique collectibles, each piece with its own story.  Each of the thirty stallholders specialises in a theme or product, resulting in a vast, varied and unique shopping experience. The shop décor is complemented by 1950’s music, and stalls are filled with new and used products, vintage clothing, homewares, Kombi collectables, garagenalia, model cars, movie memorabilia, records, jewellery, books and motorcycle memorabilia.

Then, they board a heritage train at the historical Daylesford Railway for a scenic ride through the lush landscapes of the Central Highlands/ The train rides start from the 1882 heritage listed railway station in Daylesford and traverse open farmland and thick forest, passing the sites of ancient volcanos and little communities established in the gold rush era.

Lastly, they stop at Passing Clouds winery. Here, they indulge in a wine tasting session, savouring the flavours that capture the essence of the region. Founded in 1974 by Graeme Leith and Sue Mackinnon, Passing Clouds began its journey in a Central Victorian Bendigo vineyard. Over the years, the winery has been renowned for producing elegant and pure wines that embody a true expression of their origins and the passing of time. Today, under the guidance of Cameron Leith, the winery has expanded its focus to include Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their new location in the Macedon Ranges. This addition complements the traditional offerings from Bendigo, creating a diverse and impressive portfolio of wines at Passing Clouds.
