Old Man Drew

Experience old-world charm with vintage gardens, antique interiors, and an opulent tearoom at Old Man Drew

This hidden gem on a corner in Ascot Vale is steeped in history. Formerly an auto parts shop owned by Emma Leech’s family since 1957, “Old Man Drew” was brought to life as a labour of love over two-and-a-half years. The result is a whimsical cafe with old-world charm and a green oasis.

Old Man Drew boasts hidden nooks, vintage charm, and a dog-friendly garden. Indoors, exposed bricks and high ceilings surround you, while the sprawling vintage garden outside features a working veggie patch and an original bluestone wine cellar. Upstairs, “Miss Violet Tearoom” serves weekend high tea in an opulent setting adorned with Royal Albert China, crystal chandeliers, starched tablecloths, and fresh flowers.

The menu features a glass of champagne, gourmet savory finger foods, scones with homemade jam, and fine chocolates. They serve English breakfast tea and offer additional coffee, herbal teas, fine wines, and classic cocktails.
